La Pineda

The city of Tarragona is the capital of the province of Tarragonés, located to the south of the province of Barcelona. It is located just 10 kilometers from Hotel Palas Pineda, located in La Pineda (Vilaseca).

During the time of the Roman Empire, it was one of the most outstanding cities of the Iberian Peninsula, as the capital of the Roman provinces of Hispania Citerior and Hispania Tarraconensis. Currently, thanks to its location on the Costa Daurada and its history and heritage (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO), it has become a center of tourist attraction.

Tarraco, the Roman Tarragona

The city of Tarraco was founded by the Romans in 218 BC, building a small military camp on high ground by the sea. It evolved in such a way that it soon became an important military and administrative center.

One of the key moments in history was when in the year 27 B.C. Emperor Augustus decided to settle in Tarraco to direct the Cantabrian wars, becoming the capital of Hispania Citerior and, later, of Hispania Tarraconensis.
